4 Easy Ways to Reduce Lower Back Pain

About Me
Stay Healthy, Live a Long Time

Hello! My name is Tony and this is my new blog. I decided to start this blog while I was in the hospital recovering from an operation I had to have to remove a tumour from my body. My story had started a few months beforehand when I developed a cough which I couldn't get rid of. I had some test and the doctors discovered I had a tumour in my chest. I will be the first to admit that I haven't been as good as I could have been in terms of looking after my own health. However, since being diagnosed, I have been learning all I can about how to stay healthy.

Did you know that pain is your body's way of letting you know that something is amiss somewhere? Lower back pain is one of the most common aches experienced by the average person, and it can either be debilitating or manageable. Unless you have recently been involved in an accident, lower back pain is caused by day to day habits that if changed, you will have significant relief. Before you visit chiropractors or consider surgery, try out these four ways to relieve back pain;

Be More Active

Most people spend at least 8 hours a day sitting on their desk and the remainder of it either in the car or on the couch. Static lifestyle causes muscle atrophy which puts pressure on the lumbar spinal discs and causes pain. To solve that problem, get up and take a 10-minute walk every hour or plan for a workout at least four times a week and incorporate stretches and yoga in your routine.

Avoid Stress

Mind over matter is a real thing which means that too much stress eventually translates into physical problems one of them being lower back pain. While we may not wholly avoid stress in this world, find safe and healthy ways to deal with the stress. Join a yoga class, exercise, have a therapist, go to church, meditate and everything else that will help cope with stress except substance abuse.

Adopt Proper Posture

A considerable percentage of people have lower back pain because of how they sit, stand and sleep. People who slouch a lot on their computers or even when walking are more likely to experience back pain, but that can be corrected by sitting up with your shoulders back and spine straight up. There is also a right way to sleep that will reduce the chances of back pain.

Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle

A healthy lifestyle involves so much from eating right, working out and avoiding bad habits. Besides ensuring you stock up your body with a balanced diet, it's also vital to take fish supplements because they reduce the inflammation. Avoid smoking, too much alcohol, and excess junk food as obesity causes lower back pain.

While a majority of back pain will go away, chronic back pain can be as a result of something serious such as trauma, cancer, ruptured disk, or infections. If the pain is still increasing after exercising, losing weight and laying off stress, it's important to see a chiropractor for correct diagnosis and adjustment.
